Individual Therapy for Adults
Who do I work with?
I work with adults who feel stuck in self-blame and shame often connected to chronic childhood trauma, abuse, neglect, sexual trauma, attachment wounds, abusive relationships of all kinds - often from parents and caregivers, intimate partners, - and years of programming that made you believe you did something wrong, you deserved it or you’re bad and defective - which leads to minimizing the impact of what you experienced.
This isn’t true, you just got the wrong information that resulted in a false, negative sense of self.
Many people who reach out to me to explore deeper trauma therapy have previously developed good self awareness of what happened to them, have rehashed the narrative, analyzed the story and looked for answers to “but why did they treat me that way?” hoping that will make them feel better. But this can create an endless cycle with no relief and result in a continuous struggle.
Insight doesn’t necessarily equal change in how trauma is stored physically and cognitively.
Getting trapped in trying to understand why something terrible happened is not the same as letting your brain, body and nervous system process and digest the trauma so it has less of a charge, less heat, less activation.
What I hear
In my therapy sessions, I often hear things like…
“I know it wasn’t my fault, but I still don’t believe it”
“It wasn’t that bad, other people had it worse”
“Part of me knows it happened, but part of me feels like I made it up”
“What if I’m just looking for attention and being dramatic?”
So I work with all of the aspects and versions of you - often the much younger parts - who might be stuck in trauma time and need to be updated and given the correct messaging. We want all parts of you to feel whole, seen, safe and to finally understand that the danger from the past is over.
How to Begin
If you are interested in exploring therapy with me, message or call to get started. I’m happy to schedule a 15-minute complimentary phone or video call to answer your questions and explore our fit.
If we decide we are an appropriate match, we will schedule our initial session/assessment to discuss your current struggles, explore background history and discuss how therapy could be helpful for you.
If I believe that another provider may be a better match for your specific needs, I will be happy to provide you with some referrals to help you connect with another therapist.
Before our initial session I will send you a direct link to access my private and secure client portal where you can read my practice policies and sign off electronically on all necessary intake and consent forms.
If you are in crisis and need immediate intervention or resources.
Rates
Individual therapy sessions:
Weekly or Biweekly 50-60 minutes - $150
This is an investment in yourself, your well being and functioning.
*A reduced rate may be offered in instances of financial need and depending on if I have available reduced rates spots open.
Payments
My practice is private pay as I am no longer in-network with insurance panels. Fees may be paid by all major credit cards, checks, cash, and HSA/FSA cards.
Private pay practice protects client privacy, frees you and I from insurance restrictions and allows me fair compensation for my time and services.
You may have out-of-network benefits. Call your insurance plan to explore!
If you’d like to seek reimbursement from your insurance, I can provide you with a “Superbill” which contains treatment codes and can be submitted to your insurance company for possible full or partial reimbursement. You will need to submit and follow up for any reimbursement questions or concerns. Please call and explore your personal insurance plan to get more information about your specific plan and benefits.
Good Faith Estimate
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. You can request a GFE from me at any time and it will be provided to you.
Under the law, patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance can request an estimate of the expected bill for medical items and services from their health care providers.
The GFE is not a contract for services or a bill. It is an estimate based on my current fees and potential frequency and length of services given to satisfy new federal regulations under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act.
